Hello, I'm using Window 7 Ultimate I'm having problems when windows are closed or opened, from either minimize to the taskbar or brought back. This happens with opening programs as well. Even DisplayFusions own windows are affected.
They either don't appear or linger even though whatever is behind it I can click on. When I load a program or return screen, I can see the TitleBar Buttons appear, but that is all.

The only way to fix this is either waiting or hitting ctrl+alt+tab and then esc.

Is it just the TitleBar Buttons that aren't disappearing when closed, or the whole application window? Could you attach a screenshot for reference?

Thanks!

It is doing two things, when I bring something up the TitleBar Buttons appear but the actual window doesn't even though I can click on the window as if it was there, the same thing happens when minimizing but in reverse.

1st picture is a good example of both problems happening at the same time.
Iv entered my password in KeePass, it runs a cmd which normally comes up quick and disappears in a second but this time the windows lingering even though it isn't really there anymore (I can click on my desktop icons behind), this is the same with the password entry box. It is not really there anymore, the only thing that has gone is the TitleBar Buttons from both windows.

The window that should have appeared is the main KeePass window notice the TitleBar Buttons are the only thing showing, also my mouse pointer is hovering over the edge of the window, showing the resize cursor, Iv circled them both.

2nd picture the twitch and windows explorer have both been minimized, the TitleBar Buttons had gone but both windows are now ghosting. I can select the properties window behind and move it around.

Wow, that's really strange! I've never run into that before. In the DisplayFusion Settings > Advanced Settings window, if you enable the "Disable Application Hooks" option, does that make any difference?

Changing that option has not stopped the problem. It just doesn't happen so often and the delay is much better, I don't have to wait so long for the ghosting to stop.

Ok, interesting. Is DisplayFusion using a lot of CPU or memory?

Task Manager says DisplayFusion.exe is using 80,504K of memory and 0% CPU

Ok, that's normal then. And if you don't run DisplayFusion at all, this issue doesn't occur?

If you disable just the DisplayFusion TitleBar Buttons (Settings > Functions > uncheck "Enable TitleBar Buttons"), does that make any difference?

Hmm, just noticed if I have Twitch open and the window on my second monitor, every time I open or close any other windows it always makes this problem occur. If I move the Twitch window back to the main monitor, the other windows work again.

Well that's interesting! Could you attach a copy of your troubleshooting info?

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks! I think this might have something to do with the refresh rate difference between the two monitors. If you set both the primary and second monitor to 59Hz or both to 60Hz, can you still reproduce this issue?

Ok, I tried that, but it still happens.
I can't actually get either monitor to 60Hz, whenever I do It goes back to 59Hz

Ok, thanks for trying that. When you installed Twitch, did you enable the "disable hardware acceleration" option in the installer?

That was along time ago but i must not have because GPU hardware acceleration is enabled in the options

Ok, I'm really stumped on this one. Can you send me an L2 debug log? Here are the steps:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L2: Log Detailed" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks! I don't see anything out of the ordinary in the debug log either :(

Could you try DisplayFusion 9.4 Beta 3, and if that doesn't make any difference, try rolling back to DisplayFusion 8.1.2 to see if that makes any difference?

Ok I installed the Beta 9.4 and it was still happening just not as much, I uninstalled to try 8.1.2 version, but I couldn't get it to download for some reason.
I was using my computer without DisplayFusion installed for about a day. I noticed this problem still occurred but maybe a couple of times a lot less than with DisplayFusion install.

But what I don't understand is I didn't have this problem at all before I installed DisplayFusion for the first time.

The download for 8.1.2 did work when I tried later. This made the problem even worse than the first time it occurred.

Well I'm stumped on this. If it was happening even without DisplayFusion, it seems like it's some other system issue that's being exacerbated by DisplayFusion, but I can't even imagine what it could be. I think you said disabling the titlebar buttons made it not as bad? Is it possible there's an issue with the video card fans, causing the GPU to be throttled or something?

Iv reinstalled the beta, as that seemed to be better than the previous version.
In "Setting" "Compatibility" for TwitchUI.exe I ticked all the options with (this application only) and turned on "Software Rendering Mode" in Twitch, this makes the problem occur less.

It only seems to happen if I am playing some sort of video either ie Twitch YouTube or something else

If I am playing a game on my main screen, either fullscreen or windowed borderless. The problem nearly always occurs at some point

There is nothing wrong with my fans, iv checked they work fine

Ok, thanks for the update! I'll check in with the other guys here and if we have any other ideas, I'll definitely let you know.

Thanks!
