Sorry for the lack of betas, I am currently in bug-fix/maintenance mode right now. I am working to clear up the last bunch of issues with the 3.0.x releases. Once that is done I am going to dive into version 3.1 development, and get the beta testing started up again. 3.1 is scheduled to have the caption bar buttons and full Windows 7 support. Don't worry, you'll have a chance to use some horribly buggy beta software soon enough. :)

I actually figured as much I had seen that trend with releases, big bug fixes first till there are none and then features... Its a nice setup! Can't wait for the new beta .

I finally installed Windows 7 on actual hardware last night, instead of just in VMware. Once it was up and running it didn't take long to sort out the taskbar rendering issues (most of them, anyway). Also, the "only show relevant windows" option is now available for Windows 7 users. It doesn't work 100% yet, but it's a million times better than the method in version 3.0.2. :) I'm not going to improve the taskbar window detection method anymore for Windows 7 until it goes final, as the API is still in flux. I'm hoping that Windows 7 will eventually have an API call that I can use to query the taskbar items, like TB_GETBUTTON in Windows XP/Vista.

Actually, if you code in VB.net, I have a small present for you.

A friend of mine sent this to me last night - perhaps it can be of use to you?

Thanks John. The ITaskbarList interfaces have been around for a while now, and unfortunately aren't what I need. :( Some of the earlier 2.2.x betas used these interfaces to hide and show the taskbar items, but the ITaskbarList interfaces don't perform any type of enumeration. Enumerating the taskbar items is the hard part, and that's the thing I don't have working 100% in Windows 7 yet.

Have you looked around at CodePlex (I assume yes, since you already knew about these interfaces, since that is where they came from)....

I can ask around as well - Although Beta, Win 7 is something that M$ is finally trumpeting about, and rightfully so, so perhaps they are around *somewhere*, just hidden....

Thanks John, I have seen that. The problem is that Windows has never included a standard API to enumerate the taskbar items. :( In Windows XP and Windows Vista it is somewhat "easy" though, as the taskbar is treated as a standard control. In Windows 7 though, I'm not sure what the heck it is. I think it's just a custom, owner-drawn control, which makes my life a bit more difficult. Once the Windows 7 SDK goes final I'm going to be rummaging through it to see what I can find. For now though, version 3.0.3 works significantly better than the previous version in Windows 7, and good enough for now I think. :)

Jon,

May I quote your last post above in the Ultramon replacement thread over at Sevenforums?

FWIW - you might want to read http://www.sevenforums.com/software/6087-ultramon-replacement-3.html#post64138 - and my reply....
