Hi,
it is possible that DF reuse created wallpapers in the temp folder?

So DF wouldn't need to create/merge the same images again and again and it would avoid writes on the SSD.

best regards

To clarify, are you referring to the "Wallpaper_1.png" and "Wallpaper_2.png" files that get created in %localappdata%\DisplayFusion?

Hi,

yes I referring to these pictures.

And if possible could you explain me why are these files so large, the same image merged by myself is just 1.27MB big (jpg) compared to 4.12MB (Wallpaper_1)(jpg) and 16.6MB (Wallpaper_2)(png)?

thanks for your reply and best regards

Thanks! I will put this on our list to investigate further.

Regarding the file size, we don't enable compression on the generated image because many people complained that the quality wasn't good enough :)

Ok, thanks for the reply!

It is possible to deactivate the generation of the png image?

It sure is! In the Settings > Advanced Settings window, just enable the "Wallpaper: Generate Smaller Files (lower quality)" option :)

Hi, just an idea ;)
it is possible to save information about the monitor configuration and selected wallpaper into a txt file + the name of the created/merged wallpaper.

Then before a new wallpaper will be created/merged just check the actual monitorconfiguration, selected wallpapers and compare them with the txt file if in the txt file exist an entry DisplayFusion can use these image instead of creating this image again.

best regards

Hi, do you think this method could avoid unnecessary writes?

because in my opinion the wallpaper feature is actually really write intensive ;). Also if someone have just one merged wallpaper. cause it seems so that this image is often recreated by DF.

best regards

I had put an improvement on our list for investigation for the ability to cache the generated images, but it's not currently planned. If we're able to implement that in a future version, we'll definitely let you know :)

Thanks!
