Hi,

I came across a very odd wallpaper syncing problem, which I believe somehow is linked in DisplayFusion.

I am running a setup with two machines (desktop and laptop, both running Windows 10), and I have them both connected to a 4K monitor (LG 32UD59-B), the desktop through DisplayPort and the laptop through HDMI. The desktop is running 4K and is splitting the screen into 4 by using DisplayPort. The laptop on the other hand is running a standard 1920x1080 resolution, and I have not installed DisplayFusion on this machine.

Here is the weird thing (and I have no idea how it happens); sometimes when switching the input on the monitor from one computer to the other, the laptop will copy the wallpaper from the desktop computer (the merged file with all 4 separate wallpapers I have setup through DisplayFusion)! I cannot explain how this even works since the computers are only really linked through the monitor (DisplayPort and HDMI), they are not sharing any cloud service such as OneDrive or Steam.

How on earth is this happening? It seems to have to do with DisplayFusion somehow since I have never seen it happen before I installed the software on the desktop.

It is not a major issue for me, but I am very curious as to why this is happening as it seems unlikely that the monitor is somehow transferring the data (although in theory it is possible through DisplayPort/HDMI).

Sounds like Windows 10 is syncing the wallpaper settings, here's how to disable that:

  • Press Win + C
  • From the Charms bar on the right, click "Settings", then "Change PC Settings"
  • On the left side of the PC Settings app, click "OneDrive", then "Sync Settings"
  • Disable the "Desktop personalization" option in the "Personalization settings" section

Thanks!
