Hi,
I'm trying to use DisplayFusion, which seems great btw, to save and restore window positions at sleep/wake up time. If I succeed to, I'd most likely buy a license cause this Windows© dysfunction pisses me off.

However, I've got troubles with some windows. I'm using cygwin and XWin for a more Unix way of working. Whenever I've got an XWin window maximized, and I trigger the restore positions from latest save, it is flickering (most of the time) forever. The only solution I found was to close the window.
I'll attach some log files:

DisplayFusion-detailed-XWin-compatibility.log -> detailed log with all "window only" compatibility options
DisplayFusion-full-XWin-compatibility.log -> full log with all "window only" compatibility options

DisplayFusion-detailed-XWin.log -> detailed log without compatibility options
DisplayFusion-full-XWin.log -> full log without compatibility options

On each try, I opened two XWin windows, both maximized, saved the current positions, then restored them. The flickering began, I closed the flickering windows, then deactivate the log.

Can you see what is happening?
Regards.

It looks like the XWin windows are continuously repainting after DF tries to move them. I'll do some testing here to see what we can find out.

To me, it actually *looks* like it's constantly maximizing/unmaximizing.

Just a heads up, I haven't forgotten about this! I'm hoping to get it tested out today.

I wasn't able to reproduce this behaviour here. Any chance you could attach a video capture of it in action?

First, I'm running Windows 8.1 in a professional environment.
Second, I did a video of the flickering. It doesn't happen all the time, just most of the times.

I can do more testing if that helps.

Ah interesting. I tested in Windows 7. I'll have a go in 8.1 and see if that makes any difference.

Hi,
Any news? Do you need more information on my part, more testing?

Sorry, haven't had a chance to do more thorough testing on this yet. I will keep you posted when I've had a chance to :)

Thanks!

Hey, I just installed version 9.0. My issue is still here. My evaluation license expiring soon, I bought a definitive one, even though my main use of this product is not functional for now.
I hope you can find what the problem is and fix it. I can help debugging, if needed.
Regards.

Sounds good, thank you for your purchase! I apologize for the delay on this, we've been completely swamped with the leadup to the release, and now with post-release support, but I assure you this is still on my list!

I'm still having trouble reproducing this issue here. This is what I'm trying:
  • Open a few XWin windows
  • Run the Save Window Positions function
  • Move them around
  • Run the Restore Window Positions function

Did I miss any steps?

I had this issue with maximized windows only. Did you try with maximized windows?

Ah, yep! I can reproduce it now. I'm not sure if this is something we'd be able to fix up from our end, but I will put it on the list and if we're able to get it sorted out, we'll be sure to let you know.

Thanks!

OK. I understand. In your investigation, if you found something wrong with XWin rather than with DisplayFusion, can you give me some details? I'll then see what can be done with XWin devs.
