Ever since I installed the Creator's Update for Windows 10, DisplayFusion's menu entry in the desktop context menu will not display. I've tried unchecking, applying, and rechecking the checkbox for the setting in the settings menu and nothing changes. Restarting my computer has done nothing as well. I'm running the Steam version, 8.1.2. I really would like the get it back, as it was the easiest way to open up the location of a wallpaper in the filesystem (I have it rotate through several thousand ones and occasionally want to remove one from the cycle.) Thank you.

We have a new Beta version planned for next week that improves Windows 10 support, stay tuned. :)

Has there been any progress made on this?

The desktop context menu should be working in the Creator's update at this point. The DisplayFusion Windows service should be creating the context menu entries when you apply the Settings. Can you check the Windows Task Manager > Details tab to see if "DisplayFusionService.exe" is running?

Thanks!

I'm going to assume they mean when you are in the general settings menu and hit apply settings down in the bottom right.

Just to update, but for awhile now it's been working perfectly for me. I don't remember when it happened, but I'm assuming it didn't take too long after I made the original post. Possibly a few weeks. Currently running version 1709, Build 16299.192 of Windows 10 Home and the Steam 9.1 version of DisplayFusion, just for reference.

@Ciaron: It sounds like the DisplayFusion service isn't running, and it needs to be in order for DF to setup the Desktop Context Menu. Can you try this?

  • Open a Run prompt (Windows key + R on the keyboard)
  • Type in services.msc and click OK
  • In the Services window, locate "DisplayFusionService"
  • Right-click it, and click Start
  • If DisplayFusionService.exe now shows up in the Windows Task Manager > Details tab, try opening the DisplayFusion Settings, and click Apply
  • Is the Desktop Context Menu there now?
