A few weeks ago I installed Display Fusion on my Vista Business machine at work. It worked great, installed without a hitch and never had a problem with it. I decided to change my wallpaper recently so I attempted to open Display Fusion. Vista tells me that Display Fusion has stopped working and then I have a choice to close the program which never opened or debug it and thats it. I've tried to uninstall Display Fusion and reinstall to see if that would fix the problem to no avail. Any ideas?

This is a shot in the wind, as I know little about Vista, but try this: Open task manager, see if there is any instance of displayfusion running. If so, kill the process, then try to reinstall it. I THINK that windows is running a ghost image, which doesn't work, and won't let a second instance run, which causes your issue. I have no way of verifying, so good luck.

That is an excellent idea, Pyrobob. If that doesn't correct the issue I would recommend closing DisplayFusion, making sure it is gone using task manager, then uninstalling and reinstalling it. Also, make sure you have v2.0 of the .NET framework installed as well.

Thanks,
Jon

Okay I dont exactly have the same problem, but the title of the thread is quite appropriate. I installed maybe 3 days ago, loved it. Then a day or two later I tried to change my wallpaper and now it wont do anything. If I tell displayfusion to stretch across both monitors, that feature works fine. If I try to set a different wallpaper per desktop, it just wont change, whatever the wallpapers were before I clicked OK just stay. Now whenever I use Windows Display Settings to change the background, it like splits the image into three parts, see linked image. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, checking task manager to make sure it was not running during uninstallation, reinstallation, etc. Any ideas? Thanks for the great program!

The new version of DisplayFusion (v1.4.2) should correct this issue. It is available for download here:

It's been a little over a month now and I think I've tried everything. When I try and run Display Fusion, I get the error "Display Fusion has stopped working" still. I can't run the program to save my life. I checked about the v2.0 of the .NET framework installed which it is since its included with Vista. I completely removed Display Fusion from the PC including any registry entries. I've installed the newest version and I get the same issue. If you need to see what my system is I can send you a Dxdiag file. Any help would be appreciated.

The only thing I can suggest to try is re-installing the .net framework. You can re-download it here (which I would recommend):
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5&displaylang=en

If you have the option to debug it, can you give that a try? It should tell you what the exception is and would help me troubleshoot the problem further.

Thanks,
Jon

Hi all,

I have just installed my new PC with Vista Ultimate 32bit.

I have downloaded DisplayFusion 1.5.0 and installed it.

Whenever I try to start the application, Vista tells me that the application is not working anymore. :(
Then I have the choice to check for an online solution, close the program or try to debug. When hitting the debug button, nothing happens.

Dotnet Framework is already included with Vista, so nothing I could install.
When looking into the folder C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework, I can see:
v1.0.3705
v1.1.4322
v2.0.50727
v3.0

So I would say all .Net Frameworks are available.

Maybe there is an older version around which I can try? I would really like to run that app, as I want to have my multiple wallpapers back in Vista. nVidia nView is not yet available :(

Thanks.

Update on my situation. Here is a screenshot of the debug error I get when Display Fusion stops working.

I hope this helps.

Another thing I found that might be of some help. In the control panel there is an option called Problem Reports and Solutions where you can look up log files of past errors in Vista. Here is my log of the last error with Display Fusion:

Very strange. One thing I would try doing is uninstalling and re-installing the 2.0 .NET framework (not 3.0 or 3.5). I have seen that clear up issues like this. Also, do you Visual Studio installed? If so, would you be able to start a debug session and see what file the "file not found" exception is being thrown for?
