Hi my minimize button is flashing in chrome and also the move-to-the-other-screen button is not showing on one (not the main) monitor in chrome. Any solution?

We've just released a new DisplayFusion beta version (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/) and this issue should be all fixed up. Please let us know if you run into any trouble after updating.

Thanks!

This is still an issue in the current version of displayfusion. I recently downloaded the trial a few days ago and noticed the minimize button flashing in Chrome browser windows.

Should this issue be resolved in the current stable version, or should I still be using the beta to resolve this issue?

It should be fine in the current stable version as well. We thought we had that issue fixed up well over a year ago :)

Could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info, as well as a screenshot of your Chrome window?
  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Copy to Clipboard" button
  • Paste the text into a text file (please don't paste the text directly into your reply, the formatting gets garbled and makes it difficult to parse)
  • Reply with the file attached

Keith,

Thanks for the reply. I am attaching a screenshot and the troubleshooting log in the included zip file.

I also noticed while taking the snapshot when I restored down (or de-maximized) the chrome window that the flashing turned to a solid hover animation even though the mouse wasn't over it.

So it seems that for me the flashing only occurs when the chrome window is maximized, and shows as if it were being hovered over when it is not maximized.

Let me know if there is anything else you need from me on this.

Thanks! I think this is related to your font scaling settings. Could you tell me what percentage the font scaling is set to in the Windows display settings?

That could be possible, I have my DPI scaling set to it set to 160% due to the use of high resolution monitors.

Ok, looks like it's a combination of your scaling level and the caption button size. We've added this to our list, but in the meantime, you can work around it by changing the caption button size to something lower than 40. You can do this in Windows Personalization Settings > Window Colour > Advanced Appearance Settings.

Thanks!

I recently upgraded to a 4k TV with scaling of 200% and my minimize button flashes or after a while becomes selected. I know it is Display Fusion because when it crashes the issue stops. For whatever reason when I open settings it tends to crash. After restart the button is selected until Chrome looses focus then it flashes. I went ahead and attached info.

Thanks! Does it crash every time you open the settings? Which version of Windows are you running?

Windows 10 and I included the troubleshooting file with that info and oh so much more. The crashing has to do with the multiple taskbar setting and with chrome. When multiple taskbar is enabled it crashes. When chrome is open it crashes I should say if chrome has been opened.

somebody7,

Do you have an AMD or nVidia card?

I'm curious because after a while of not using display fusion for a while, I upgraded my graphics card from an AMD R9 390x to a GTX 1070 Gaming X 8G.

Additionally, I was having problems with the trial version of display fusion before, and I have recently been using the Steam version along with the nVidia card without a problem for a while now.

With those two different factors changed, I no longer have the problem.

I have an AMD R9 270 and am using the pro version of Display Fusion. I think the driver would be the same or very similar for the 2 cards.

I have actually been pondering a GTX 1070. My son uses the GTX 970 and it walks all over my R9 270. I am sure the 1070 would be a solid investment and make me happier even if it doesn't fix my Display Fusion issues.

Anyways, Thanks for the input.

@somebody7: Could you attach a full debug log? Here are the steps:
  • On the Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal"
  • Note the time that it crashese
  • Send us the DisplayFusion.log file (can be found by clicking the Open Log button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks!

I recently changed to an Nvidia GTX 1060 and that fixed the issues I was facing.

The Chrome minimize button no longer flashes at any density.

Thanks for your help.

I'm experiencing the same issue which goes away if I quit DF. Actually, the behaviour has changed slightly, earlier (new install windows on new computer, windows 10) the minimize button was flashing (also causing hovers on webpages not to work, the focus would, presumably, change to the minimize button. Now the focus is on that button all the time. If I highlight another button, such as maximize, it will seize to highlight the minimize button, but when I move the mouse, it highlights again.

I tried following the suggestion:
Windows Personalization Settings > Window Colour > Advanced Appearance Settings
but couldn't find where that setting is (searched both Windows and DF).

Troubleshooting dump added, as well as partial screenshot.

As I am typing a response, the icon is solid, once posted and viewing another page or tab, it flashes again. And on all my chrome windows, not just the one I'm viewing.

Are you using 175% or 200% display scaling on your system?

In fact I am, 175%. Changed it to 150% and that works. But I prefer to scale to 175%. Is there a solution?

Not yet, but we have it on our list to fix. I will be sure to let you know when it is all sorted out.

In the meantime, on the Settings > Compatibility tab, you can create a rule for Chrome and enable the "Disable TitleBar Buttons (this application)" option as a workaround.

Thanks!

OMG! This has been bugging me something fierce for several days. I couldn't put my finger on the problem of hover text disappearing almost as soon as I moused over a link or other object.

I had remarked on the flashing "Minimize" button but thought it was just my old eyes, a new dual 4K system, Windows 10 Non-Evolver's Edition, or something else.

I run a bunch of Chrome windows and have my displays set at 200%. As soon as I added Chrome to the Compatibility list the problem disappeared. Losing the "switch window" button is not a big deal but it will be nice to have it back.

FWIW, my DF index is attached.

The chrome minimize button flashing issue shows up for me too on version 9.1. I'm running in Win10 with 200% scaling (extremely high res monitor).

But as Roger suggested, simply adding chrome to the compatibility list and disabling TitleBar Buttons resolved this problem.
