I have two monitor profiles, one which uses the two monitors on my desk and one which enables just my TV. I typically use the keybinds "Home" and "End" to switch between these. There is a recurring bug however where the two profiles occasionally overwrite one another, i.e. the "Monitors" profile will copy all the settings from the "TV" profile or vise versa.

This is really frustrating, as the only way to fix it is to go into the settings and delete the old profile and create a new one. I would estimate this happens around 30-40% of the time when I use one of the hotkeys, although usually the first time I use them after startup.

Any ideas what this could be? I've checked the registry settings files it really does appear as if one profile is a copy of the other minus the name which doesn't change.

thanks!

Evan

This should actually be fixed up for the next beta. It's not currently finished, but if you want to try a pre-release version of the beta to see if it helps, please email us at support@binaryfortress.com.

Thanks!

Ok, DisplayFusion 9.0 Beta 4 has been released. Could you try the following?
  • Update to 9.0 Beta 4
  • Delete and re-create the Monitor Profiles
  • Let us know if the Monitor Profiles still break after some time

Thanks!

Hi Keith,

Everything worked fine for a few months (after the update you mentioned went live), however the same bug is occuring again for the past week or so. I think it may be tied to the most recent windows update.

Exactly the same as before.

If you could give any advice/input that would be fantastic =)

Strange! It definitely shouldn't be possible for the Monitor Profiles to overwrite each other any more. Could you attach a copy of your troubleshooting info (steps below) when the Monitor Profiles are fine, and then another copy when they're broken?

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached
